South African business partners Michae Schreler and Avril Ozen created Language in 1995. Michael has a background in finances and Avril was skilled in product development, the pair were a great match. They opened Eastwest Clothing in Los Angeles in 1995. One of their earliest brands, Language, became popular by 2001. Over 90% of Language's products were manufactured in the USA, also using local shipping companies.

Language now ships to contemporary stores and boutiques in the USA, Canada, Europe, the UK, Japan, the Middle East, and Australia.
